Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) My husband and I just received this yesterday, and so far so good! It suits our needs, and is very easy to use. Loved it so much, we ordered 1 for my parents for Christmas. It should be easy for them to operate, as there's only a few buttons.. a large red record one in the center, and a + and - for the zoom.. a play button to watch your videos and a trash can one to delete. How much more blunt can you be? We love it! Definitely recommend to all ages!

- Camera is small enough to carry in your pocket - battery last a long time but in a bind you can always through in some AA's - video quality is great - easy enough to use that my 2 year old and make videos (of the floor and ceiling mostly) - Can endure the wrath of my 3 boys - water proof case is affordable and works well - easy to share and remove the video's (especially on a MAC) Cons: - the only con is the image stabilization. But iMovie can help with that with software stabilization if it isn't to bad. And I have found that I am more careful now when making the video. The tripod mount also helps in a lot of scenarios. - A feature request would be the ability to take still shots. You can capture stills from the video but that isn't the same. Bottom Line: I love this camera. I have had it for 6 months now and use it a lot. It is easy to use and quick to power up so I hardly miss a moment. I highly recommend any of the flip video products but the Ulra HD is my favorite. Recommendation: You may ask what do I do with all the footage. Well first the camera makes a separate file for each shot so I do a lot of my editing as I make the video, starting and stopping. This helps when putting together a movie to minimize the editing time and allows me to get rid of the clips my kids took of the floor. But mostly I upload the clips to the web and share them with family. You will need some disk space if you plan on archiving I recommend an external drive that will keep all the video. The company: I purchased directly from Flip and was impressed with their service. I ordered both the Ultra HD and the water proof case. The case was back ordered so my whole order was on hold. I sent them an email asking if I could get the camera sent even though the case was back ordered. They sent my camera to me over night so I had it the next day. I didn't pay for fast shipping. Cisco Systems Inc. owns PURE Digital which makes the Flip so I wouldn't expect anything less.

Flip HD - Great Video, Low Price - Highly Recommended,

We have a daughter who is now 15 months old, and I've had a Mini-DV based Sony camera for a few years, which produces great quality standard definition video, but its size, use of tapes, and comparitive difficulty of exporting video causes it to be left in its case most of the time. As a result, we haven't really caputured video of our daughter in her early stages, other than the major moments. The FlipHD camcorder has changed all of this. We just leave it sitting on our kitchen table, and whenever she starts doing something funny, cute, etc... I just pick up the Flip and start filming. We've already capture countless moments that we would have missed with the standard, tape-based camcorder. As for the video quality, the more light, the better, but even in low light, the video still looks great in HD. My only recommendation is to not use the zoom, as it is purely digital, and therefore affects the quality of the video. Moving video to your computer is as easy as plugging in the USB cable. It comes pre-loaded with some basic editing software that allows you to piece clips together into movies, add music, etc..., or you can just access the camera like a disk drive. For $160, this is unbeatable.

 Excelent Camera, but has problems in Charging,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) I bought a Flip HD its very cool till the end of the first shot and the waste of its battery pack, because of the problem of charging. You may have to charge 3 hours and a half using the optional wall adapter or 6 hours using the USB port, but unfortunately it does not go to the end, stopping (PAUSING) charging in the first 15 minutes, because it gets too HOT. So, to me to charge I have to put it out and in so many times to get it recharged, because of that. Some times it works more time other times gets hot so quickly and simple hangs in the "HOT" screen, so you need to move on batteries sold separatedely. **** 4 Stars in general. |
